The city’s cultural scene is buzzing with theater, cinema, and visual arts. It’s a vibrant mix of artistic experiences across various venues.
Theater takes center stage today with three exciting performances. At the Pallas Theater, the Georgian Gabriadze Puppet Theater showcases its famous show “The Autumn of My Spring.” This production blends poetry, music, dance, and memory in a unique puppet theater experience. Over at the Hambis Printmaking Museum, the Fantastic Theater kicks off its new series of Theatrical Readings called “The Other Season,” written and directed by Magdalena Zira, based on a story by Magda Kitromilidou. On the same night, Lexi Theater presents the modern Greek play “The Milk” by Vassilis Katsikonouris at the Dendro Theater, directed by Marina Vrondi and produced by Giorgos Tsiakkas.
Film lovers have plenty to enjoy today too. Kiss FM is hosting the Avant Premiere of the film Song Sung Blue at K. Cineplex and Premier Cinemas in the Mall of Nicosia. Directed by Craig Brewer and featuring Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman, this film explores how music connects with our need for love, inspired by Neil Diamond’s world. At the same time, new films are premiering in Nicosia and Limassol. Plus, Pantheon Theater continues to show Jim Jarmusch’s award-winning film Father Mother Sister Brother until early February. This film tells three separate stories about parent-child relationships.
The visual arts are also alive today with two new exhibitions opening. At Gloria Gallery, painter and writer Andreas Karayan shows his latest series “Landscapes,” exploring human bodies, relationships, and existential themes in a sensual and poetic way. Meanwhile, Apokalipsi Gallery opens “two gazes,” featuring sculptures by Panagiotis Pasanda and paintings by Giorgos Gerontidis, both reflecting human experiences.
The day’s events wrap up with ongoing exhibitions in museums and art spaces in Nicosia and Limassol. The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art hosts “Agropoetics: soils/bodies,” showcasing 50 artists. At NiMAC, the exhibition Fluid Persistence addresses ecological issues and highlights water’s symbolic power. Maurice Cazzolli’s installation “Water Movement Nicosia” is on display at Town Hall Square. Leventis Gallery features an archival tribute titled “Christoforos Savva: Simple – Complex – Invisible.” Additionally, the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation continues its exhibition “Cyprus Island History. Memory Reality.” In Limassol, NeMe, 3FHome, and 125 Space present exhibitions that tackle contemporary themes about identity, society, and art’s impact.
