A case that affects us all is in the news. A 1.5-year-old child urgently needs a compatible bone marrow donor to survive.

The Ministry of Education, along with the Karaiskakio Foundation, is asking the public for help. They urge anyone who can to learn more and register as a volunteer donor. Remember, the registration process is simple and painless. It only requires a saliva sample, with no medical procedures involved.

People aged 18 to 45 can register. Just one person’s contribution can be vital, not just for this child but for others needing a compatible transplant.

If you’re interested, you can reach out to the Karaiskakio Foundation, the Blood Banks of public hospitals, or partnering medical, diagnostic, and dental centers in all districts: Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, and Famagusta. Those wanting to help can visit specific blood donation points and partnering centers in every district.

In Nicosia, you can donate blood and register as a volunteer at the Karaiskakio Foundation in Engomi, the Blood Bank of Nicosia General Hospital, or at partnering biomedical and dental clinics like the Tonia Tsanglou Pharmacy in Strovolos and the Gnathion Dental Clinic.

In Limassol, citizens can go to the Blood Bank of Limassol General Hospital, the Chemistry Faska Solomou, and private clinics and diagnostic centers that work with the Karaiskakio Foundation.

In Larnaca, blood donation points are available at the Blood Bank of Larnaca General Hospital (New Wing), the Aesthesis Dental Center, the Aghia Marina Medical Center, and the Marina Nikolaou Pharmacy.

If you’re in Paphos, you can contact the Evangelismos Hospital, the Medicare Diagnostic Center, the Sefanos Giorkas Clinical Laboratory, and the Royal Artemis Private Hospital.

In Famagusta, blood donation takes place at partnering clinical laboratories in Paralimni, including the Christina Strati Clinical Laboratory and the Athina Neou Clinical Laboratory.

The process is straightforward, safe, and quick, guided by trained staff. When every minute matters, donating blood is a meaningful act of kindness that can bring hope where it’s needed most.
