Parents are worried about transferring 13 students to an elementary school in Nicosia. They strongly oppose the move. Last year, there were three first-grade classes, but only two are planned for the new year. This raises anxiety and puts families in a tough spot.

Many transfer applications were turned down, even though they were based on important family needs. Reports say the school handling these requests will have only two first-grade classes for the 2026 school year. This is surprising since the number of students seems to support having three classes.

The issue was brought to the Directorate of Primary Education, but the responses were not positive. There are also questions about how these decisions are made and if they consider daily life factors for families.

This case has been shared with the President of the Republic of Cyprus and the Minister of Education and Culture, hoping for a review.
