A new act of violence happened at a school in Larnaca. A middle school student attacked a teacher and even got physical with her.
According to philenews, the student is a 13-year-old. The teacher reported the incident to the Larnaca Police last Wednesday. They have started an investigation. Since the student is criminally irresponsible (under 14 years old), a specific procedure for such cases is being followed.
The president of the Confederation of Secondary Education Parent Associations, Loizos Constantinou, said the case is being handled according to the rules. “The process is underway, and everything will follow the regulations. We won’t discuss whether it was right or wrong to react; reacting does not mean using physical violence against anyone, especially not against a teacher,” he stated.
Mr. Constantinou told SIGMA that “we have reached a point where violence occurs.” He mentioned that he spoke with the president of OELMEK to show parents’ support for teachers. “I condemn any form of violence. If a student or parent has a complaint against a teacher, they can file it, but they should never physically assault an educator,” he said.
