Description
“Lost Stories” is not a lecture or a reading but a solo performance where history comes to life on stage. Mikhail Zygar’s live storytelling and the performance of a guest artist turn the past into gripping theatre. The show is based on five short plays inspired by his new book “The Dark Side of the Earth”, the result of almost ten years of research and hundreds of exclusive interviews.
It explores why the collapse of the Soviet Union was incomplete, how imperial ideas were resurrected and why their consequences are still felt today, featuring figures such as Mikhail Gorbachev, Andrei Sakharov, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Vladimir Vysotsky and others whose choices resonate strongly in the present. Between the plays Zygar and his guest engage in open dialogue, reflections and Q&A, turning the performance into a candid conversation with the audience. The texts have never been published and are heard only from the stage.
In Limassol, the special guest is poet Vera Polozkova, known for her influential poetry collections and cross-genre performances combining poetry, music and theatre. After the show Zygar will speak about “The Dark Side of the Earth”, answer questions and sign books.
