A 21-year-old was arrested in Nicosia after being found in Greece with a European arrest warrant.
This young man was arrested as part of investigations into drug and arson cases from February and July 2025. With his arrest, the total number of people arrested for these two cases is now six. The YKAN and CID Nicosia are handling the investigation.
The police found and arrested the 21-year-old in Nicosia under a court warrant based on new evidence from the investigations. During a search, they found about five (5) grams of dry cannabis, a handmade cannabis cigarette, and two mobile phones, which were taken as evidence for police tests.
The drug investigation started after two 22-year-olds reported a robbery on February 11, which turned out to be false. Evidence later showed that these two individuals and a 21-year-old had drugs with the intent to supply others, leading to their arrests.
The arson case involves a car fire on July 2 at around 4:30 am. Someone maliciously set fire to a car owned by a 54-year-old woman and another car owned by a 29-year-old woman while both were parked in Nicosia district. The fire completely destroyed both cars, and a third car owned by a 56-year-old man parked nearby was also damaged on its right side.
