The new year at New Stage ‘Nikos Charalambous’ begins with the performance ‘To Those Who Hear Me’ by Loula Anagnostaki, directed by Thanasis Georgiou.
The first performance will take place on Friday, January 23, 2026, in Nicosia (THOC Theatre), with repeat performances every Friday and Saturday at 20:00 and Sunday at 18:00. The play ‘To Those Who Hear Me’ by Loula Anagnostaki tells the story of nine people meeting in an apartment in multicultural Berlin, while outside the city is ablaze with protests and riots.
As the city’s echo invades their space, each character speaks to an imaginary audience, revealing traumas, hidden desires, and unfulfilled expectations. Through a combination of irony, humor, visual and sound cues, the play highlights memory, alienation, uncertainty, absolute loneliness, and internal and collective fractures.
Written in 2003, it is Anagnostaki’s last work and one of the most powerful and multi-layered texts of post-war Greek theater. The director Thanasis Georgiou and the contributors transform the closed Berlin room into an open arena of silent protest, where private and public intertwine with individual and collective experience.
Other performances will take place in various cities: in Free Famagusta on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 20:30 at Sotira Municipal Theatre; in Larnaca on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 20:30 at G. Lykourgos Municipal Theatre,; in Paphos on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 20:30 at Markideio Theatre; and in Limassol on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Rialto Theatre. The subtitled performances in English and Turkish will be held in Nicosia and Limassol.
The cast includes actors Thanasis Georgiou, Stavros Dimopoulos, Fanos Theofanous, Sofia Kalli, Melina Koutsoufta, Andreas Koutsoumbas, Maria Konstantinou, Chris Spyrou, and Niovi Charalambous.
