A 23-year-old man was sentenced to ten years in prison by the Limassol Criminal Court. He was found guilty of importing, possessing, and intending to supply drugs.
This case started after the Drug Enforcement Unit conducted operations in three areas—Limassol, Larnaca, and Nicosia—within just 24 hours. They seized over 22 kilograms of cannabis and 32 plants being grown.
The operation kicked off on August 1st when Drug Enforcement Unit members found a package with about 4.48 kilograms of cannabis at a courier shop in Limassol. The 23-year-old was then found at another courier shop while picking up a new package. A check revealed another 4.57 kilograms of cannabis, which led to his arrest for a serious offense. Searches at his home and car found more evidence linking him to the two packages. A third courier shop had yet another package with the same weight and packaging of cannabis.
The police reported that the young man admitted he knew what was in the packages and made claims that are still being looked into. Today, the Limassol Criminal Court sentenced him to ten years in prison for the drug importation case.
