The police focused on narcotics during their nighttime operations, with a serious case in Paphos. A 24-year-old was arrested after a large stash of hard drugs was found.
According to the police, they stopped a vehicle driven by the 24-year-old in a parking lot in Paphos while gathering evidence. During the initial check, they found small amounts of cannabis, cocaine, and methamphetamine, leading to his arrest for a serious offense.
A search by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU) at his apartment uncovered carefully hidden large amounts of drugs, including 804 captagon tablets, over 870 grams of methamphetamine (crystal), 193 grams of cocaine, 144 grams of cannabis, 48 grams of cannabis resin, ecstasy tablets, amphetamine, and €3,515 in cash.
The 24-year-old was also driving without a license or insurance. A preliminary drug test came back positive. He was arrested, and DLEU is working with Paphos Traffic Police to continue the investigation. In Nicosia, one person was arrested for illegal drug possession and causing damage. In Paphos, four people were arrested for various offenses, including illegal drug possession, illegal stay in Cyprus, common assault, and failing to appear in court.
Alongside drug arrests, police carried out extensive checks, stopping over 346 vehicles and checking more than 80 individuals. They also inspected 26 establishments. Traffic checks led to 124 complaints for various violations and seven complaints after alcohol tests.
