Kitasweather has issued a Yellow Alert for strong to gale-force winds from the west and northwest. An official update from the Meteorological Service is coming soon.
The announcement says we can expect a quick change in the weather over the next 24 hours. This will bring rain, snow, and some serious winds.
Today, expect mostly cloudy skies with medium and high clouds. Winds will mainly come from the northeast to southeast, blowing lightly to moderately at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be a bit rough. Temperatures will reach around 19 degrees inland, about 21 on the coast, and 14 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight, it will stay cloudy with some rain. Isolated thunderstorms are possible, starting in the west and spreading to other areas. Snow is expected in the higher mountains. Winds will blow from the southwest to northwest, moderate to strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort, and very strong in windward areas at 6 Beaufort. The sea will become rough soon. Temperatures will drop to around 9 degrees inland, about 12 on other coasts, and 4 degrees in the higher mountains.
Saturday and Sunday, expect mainly cloudy weather with local rain, isolated thunderstorms, possible hail, and snow in the higher mountains. Winds may be very strong to severe, with some temporary easing on Saturday.
