The police’s intensified night operations focused on driving under the influence of alcohol, with results causing significant concern.
In total, there were 38 reports of driving under the influence of alcohol, with two drivers caught red-handed, posing an immediate danger to human lives. During the night, over 580 alcohol tests were conducted, with the police also identifying four drivers who tested positive for drugs. In the context of investigating serious traffic offenses, ten vehicles were impounded, and a total of 216 traffic violations were reported.
These numbers highlight that despite continuous warnings and tragic past examples, some continue to ignore the danger and the law. The police clarify that operations will continue with the same intensity, primarily aiming at preventing fatal accidents and protecting citizens.
Meanwhile, during the operations, police officers located and arrested two individuals in Nicosia and Limassol, against whom arrest warrants were pending for cases of building burglary and theft respectively. In the Paphos district, a person was arrested concerning a case of causing disturbance.
