The Police started an investigation after claims of a domestic violence incident involving Paphos Mayor Phaedon Phaedonos’s wife.

According to Christodoulos Konsolos, the Police Headquarters communication officer, the case is being looked into independently, regarding claims of abuse against a woman. Because of the sensitive nature of this matter and personal data protection, no more details can be shared. He mentioned that any updates will be officially announced if new evidence comes to light.

After the Police’s statements, the Mayor’s wife posted publicly, strongly denying that she has filed a complaint against her husband. She said she did not report anything to the Police or give a statement, calling the opposite claims false. She expressed frustration over the spread of this information and questioned the motives of those sharing it. She described it as unjust targeting of her and her family, noting that such reports also impact their young children.

In my last public statement, I want to say that I never reported my husband to the Police. The claims that I reported him and gave statements are completely false. Why would someone say such a thing? What do they gain? Are they following orders? What is their goal? Don’t they realize they are unfairly insulting others? Why don’t they respect others and their children? What kind of people are these? Are they trying to help us or mislead us for their own benefit?

Earlier, she claimed there is a coordinated effort to harm her family, suggesting political motives behind the issue targeting her husband. She called for an end to the attacks and respect for their privacy. The claims started circulating after posts by wanted Ioanna Fotiou, known as Annie Alexui, who shared documents claiming they relate to the hospitalization of the Mayor’s wife.
