The public consultation is now open for a new asphalt concrete production unit in Pareklisia. This unit will produce up to 160 tons of asphalt every hour.

It will take up 1,500 square meters and will have a metal structure outside. The unit will mainly use materials from a nearby quarry, which can supply up to 1,230 tons daily. Water use will be minimal for dust control, with an annual limit of 25,000 tons. The estimated electricity use is about 1.5 GWh each year.

The community leader of Pareklisia has voiced opposition. They are worried about the environmental impact from a nearby crushing plant and ongoing traffic problems that the state hasn’t fixed.

The company claims the plant meets modern environmental standards and that it will operate sustainably with the technology planned.

The public consultation will stay open until February 7, 2026, when feedback collection will end.
