Face Display in Apology Video of Faidias Panayiotou-(Video)
Marios Filippou, a para-athlete, does not agree to show his face in MEP Faidias Panayiotou’s apology video. This was confirmed by the Cyprus Confederation of Disabled People’s Organizations (CYSOA), which represents him.
CYSOA stated that “the unacceptable comment Mr. Panayiotou claims he did not mean has been publicly shown for two months. Blaming society’s outrage on political motives is offensive.”
The Confederation also stressed that “blaming political motives when basic human rights are defended shows a serious democratic issue.” The case has led to strong reactions due to the MEP’s offensive comment in a podcast, highlighting the need to respect the rights of people with disabilities.
