Face Display in Apology Video of Phidias Panayiotou-(Video)
Marios Filippou, a para-athlete, does not agree to show his face in the apology video of MEP Phidias Panayiotou. This was confirmed by the Cyprus Confederation of Disabled Organizations (CYSOA), which represents him.
CYSOA stated that “the unacceptable comment Mr. Panayiotou claims he did not mean has been shown publicly for two months. Blaming society’s outrage on political motives is an insult.”
The Confederation also stressed that “claiming political motives while defending basic human rights shows a serious democratic issue.” The case has caused strong reactions after the MEP made an offensive comment in a podcast, highlighting the need to respect the rights and dignity of people with disabilities.
