Nikos Sykas: Lawsuit Against DISY After His Exclusion from the Election List – The Violence Case Reaches Legal Services
New updates are coming in about MP Nikos Sykas, with both legal and political angles. His former partner’s complaint about violence, said to have happened on New Year’s Eve in Athens, has been sent to the Legal Services for review. Even though the complaint was withdrawn with a sworn statement, the police started an investigation on their own.
After his parliamentary immunity was lifted, Mr. Sykas spoke at the Limassol CID with his lawyer present. He denied any violence or threats. At the same time, Phileleftheros reports that he plans to file a civil lawsuit against the Democratic Rally. He wants to challenge the decision that keeps him off the election list for the upcoming elections.
Investigators from the Family Violence Unit recently went to Athens. They collected witness testimonies and gathered photos, medical records, and forensic reports. The investigation looks into claims of physical and psychological violence, assault causing actual bodily harm, and threats. Once they finish their work, the Legal Services will decide what to do next and if they can take the case to court.
