Annie Alexui (Ioanna Fotiou) responded to Justice Minister Kostas Fytiris about her high-profile case. She asked him to reach out to her directly in Russia, where she has asylum.
In her statement, she showed her willingness to work with authorities. She wants to share evidence that backs up her serious claims. ‘You can call me on my Russian number if you want, and I will send you videos, recordings, and conversations that show the complete negligence, incompetence, and violence of police officers, especially in Paphos, towards me,’ she said.
The issue came up today during a press conference with the Justice Minister. He was asked if the state plans to send police officers to Russia to take a statement from Ioanna Fotiou about her claims made in social media videos.
Mr. Fytiris said that all information and claims are being looked into. He mentioned that the Attorney General’s office will decide on next steps based on police investigations. However, he stressed that without testimonies and written statements, they cannot move forward. He pointed out that social media posts alone are not enough for arrests or prosecutions. When asked about sending police officers to Russia, the Minister said the goal is to investigate and clarify everything. He added that the police are already checking specific data but could not confirm if such a mission would happen.
Talking about organized crime, Mr. Fytiris noted that ‘if there are rotten apples, we want to remove them,’ stressing that the state follows laws and procedures. ‘Without testimonies and statements checked by the police and Attorney General’s office, no criminal proceedings can happen,’ he said. The case continues to spark reactions, with Annie Alexui saying she is still available to authorities and repeating that she has evidence supporting her claims.
