Angel Needing Public Help
Little Konstantinos, just 1.5 years old, is facing a tough fight. His grandmother, Elli Konstantinou, shared the family’s worries.
In an interview with Fileleftheros, she said that about three weeks ago, her grandson was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He is now in the pediatric oncology department of Makarios Hospital.
“Last Friday, tests from his bone marrow showed he urgently needs a transplant,” Mrs. Konstantinou explains. “We quickly told all our relatives and friends, and the news spread across Cyprus, hoping to find a matching donor.”
Despite the huge effort, no donor has been found yet to help little Konstantinos. Once a donor is located, he will be moved to Germany for the transplant. Doctors from Makarios will work closely with specialists there to prepare for the procedure. The family faces each day with anxiety, but the support from Cypriot society gives them hope. This collective effort to find a donor shows that even in tough times, unity can make a difference.
