Christmas in the Capital: The magic spreads across all neighborhoods of Nicosia. This year, Nicosia dresses up for the holidays, preparing to welcome Christmas with a renewed, rich, and dazzling program of events, transforming the capital into one of the most magical holiday destinations.

At a press conference held on Friday, November 21, at Eleftheria Square, Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Prontzos, Cultural Committee President Leoni Orphanidou, and Municipal Cultural Officer Maria Petsa presented the vision, actions, and content of the official Christmas event program of the Municipality.

“Our goal is an open, bright, and lively Nicosia. A city that embraces the holidays with joy and creativity, providing space for families, young people, and visitors to share moments they will remember for years,” said Mayor Charalambos Prontzos. The city fills with music, light, color, and festive experiences for both young and old. From decorated avenues to corners that ‘smell’ like Christmas, Nicosia offers countless moments of joy and an environment flooded with warmth and festive magic.

The festive season officially opens with the lighting of the Christmas tree at Eleftheria Square and a grand concert by Stavento & Ivi Adamou, who will set the rhythm for the first big festive night of this season. The official start of the events will take place on Sunday, November 23, with the tree lighting and concert in the heart of the city. Meanwhile, the glow of Christmas will extend to every neighborhood in the Capital through themed lightings and local celebrations.

The festive action spreads throughout Nicosia with large and small celebrations in every corner of the city. The program includes events and lightings in key neighborhoods of the capital, giving a festive breath to all of Nicosia.

In Engomi on November 29, the Engomi Christmas Fest will take place along with the lighting of the Christmas tree in collaboration with Mall of Engomi, turning the area into a lively festive meeting point for young and old. In Agios Dometios on December 7, the Agios Dometios Christmas Fest will be held with tree lighting at Agios Dometios chapel featuring music, activities, and a Christmas atmosphere that will ’embrace’ the entire neighborhood.

In Aglantzia on December 19, there will be an official lighting at Spyros Kyprianou Park offering a warm festive environment with music, activities for children, and relaxation spaces for adults in an atmosphere full of light and Christmas images.

This is just part of what is to come as the Municipality aims for everyone – children, young people, and families – to experience the celebration, enjoy the city, and create beautiful shared memories within the spirit of Christmas.
