UCLan Cyprus: Offers technical school students a unique path to the runway of ‘Athens Fashion Week 2026’

The School of Arts, Media & Communication at UCLan Cyprus and the BA (Hons) Fashion Design program continue to lead in creative education in Cyprus through a new initiative connecting secondary and higher education with the professional fashion industry.

During their visit to the University’s facilities and specialized fashion labs, students from Technical Schools in Nicosia, Limassol, and Larnaca—focused on fashion-related fields—were invited to participate in a special Fashion Competition. Organized by the academic team of the University’s Fashion Design program, the competition aims to highlight and promote new talents.

The winner will have an exceptional opportunity: to participate and present their creation at the UCLan Cyprus Fashion Show, at Athens Fashion Week 2026.

From Classroom to International Runway

This initiative highlights the close connection between the School and the Fashion Design program with the fashion industry, as well as their commitment to providing meaningful, real professional opportunities beyond academic boundaries.

Participation in Athens Fashion Week offers invaluable exposure to designers, buyers, media professionals, and key figures in the international fashion industry. By opening this platform not only to its own students but also to Technical School students, the University actively supports talent development within Cyprus’s broader educational ecosystem.

The message is clear: creativity deserves exposure—and higher education can be the bridge that transforms talent into a professional presence.

Strengthening the Educational Ecosystem

By inviting Technical School students to compete for a spot in an international fashion show, the School of Arts, Media & Communication at UCLan Cyprus enhances:

  1. The smooth transition from secondary to higher education • Early familiarization of students with university facilities and specialized expertise • Guidance from experienced academics and professional fashion designers • Access to established industry networks

Such initiatives reflect a broader vision: collaboration instead of separation between educational levels and creating opportunities instead of limitations for young creators.

A School with Strong Professional Orientation

The School of Arts, Media & Communication stands out for its dynamic relationship with creative industries. Through its programs—such as Fashion Design, Media Production, Graphic Design, and Web Design & Development—students benefit from:

  • Active professional collaborations • International presentations and exhibitions of works • Real creative briefs from the industry • Exposure and experiences in authentic professional environments

The opportunity to present creations at Athens Fashion Week is a result of long-standing professional collaborations and a curriculum based on modern industry practices developed by the distinguished and talented academic team of the program.

Placing Future Cypriot Designers on the International Fashion Stage

This competition is not just an event; it is a clear statement of intent. UCLan Cyprus invests in talent, creates platforms for exposure, and empowers the new generation of designers to enter the professional field with confidence.

For aspiring fashion designers seeking international exposure, industry connections, and a modern, progressive academic environment, the BA (Hons) Fashion Design program at UCLan Cyprus continues to set standards in Cyprus.
