The draw in El Clasico left a mixed taste…
AEL wasn’t happy with the draw against Apollon. They had a two-goal lead early in the second half but couldn’t handle their emotions, as Hugo Martins pointed out after the match.
We agree with the Portuguese coach that the break right after the 2-0 score and Natel’s injury hurt their team. It made them pull back and gave Apollon a chance to fight back.
Luckily for AEL, Castel missed a chance in the 98th minute. It would have been embarrassing not to even get a point. Just moments before, Ferrier missed a great opportunity to win the game for the blue and yellows.
In short, AEL needs to improve to build their character and secure a top six spot. Everyone hopes that with January transfers, Martins will have better players to create a stronger team.
The coaching staff is clearly looking for players who can start and make an impact, not just fill spots on the bench. Some current starters aren’t very reliable.
Last week’s away win brought a big crowd to the stadium. Over 5,000 fans showed up across three stands. If the team keeps improving, more blue and yellow fans are likely to leave their homes.
