As part of the competition for the title “European Capital of Culture 2030”, the Deputy Ministry of Culture is organizing the final phase. This is in line with Decision No. 445/2014/EU from the European Parliament and the Council.
The expert committee for the “European Capital of Culture 2030” Competition includes:

- Matthias Ripp
- Anthony Attard
- Jelle Burggraaff
- Hrvoje Laurenta
- Csaba Borboli (excused absence)
- Athina Aristotelous Kliridou
- Marios Ioannou Elia
This committee has twelve members. The first ten are experts chosen by EU institutions like the European Parliament, the Council, and the European Commission. The last two are Cypriot experts picked by the Deputy Minister of Culture, following set procedures and working with the European Commission.
The committee will evaluate, select, and monitor the competition. In the final stage, it will decide whether Larnaca or Limassol will be named the European Capital of Culture for 2030.
The final decision will be announced today, December 11, 2025, at 12:30 PM at the Deputy Ministry of Culture.
