There’s a big shortage of nursing staff in private hospitals in Cyprus. This could threaten their operations. Hospital administrators are worried about having to close some units, even temporarily. One hospital is already at risk of shutting down due to not having enough staff, which raises concerns in the private health sector.
To tackle this problem, the Ministry of Health plans to submit a new bill. On ALPHA’s program “Information” with Katia Savva, Deputy General Director Elisavet Konstantinou said the bill will require nurses in private hospitals to meet certain criteria and speak Greek. This will help ensure smooth operations and safe patient care.
Experts in the field are urging authorities to act quickly on this bill. They stress that boosting the nursing workforce is crucial to prevent more issues and support private hospitals, which play a key role in Cyprus’s health system.
