Today’s events highlight the many sides of public life, blending history, community support, culture, and sports.
The day kicks off at 08:30 with a memorial service for the leaders of the EOKA Liberation Struggle from 1955–59 at the Church of Saint Anthony in Spilia, Nicosia. The Minister of Defense will give a speech to honor the fighters who shaped our country’s history.
From 11:00 to 19:00, the Presidential Palace opens its doors for the Christmas Village. This two-day event celebrates Cypriot entrepreneurship, creativity, and tradition. First Lady Philippa Karsera Christodoulides will join the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and the Press and Information Office at the palace’s theater to support local creators.
In the afternoon at 16:00, we shift focus to social contributions and sports. The Deputy Minister of Social Welfare will attend the Christmas Tea and Bazaar hosted by the Ithaca Association for Supporting People with Dementia at Alexander the Great Beach Hotel in Paphos, boosting efforts to help those with dementia.
Meanwhile, in Nicosia, the closed hall “Eleftheria” will host the ECOMMBX All Star Game 2025, organized by the Cyprus Basketball Federation. This event brings together players and fans for a basketball celebration.
Lastly, in Limassol, the Municipality will honor our National Poet Vasilis Michailidis with an annual memorial service at Saint Nicholas Church. This will be followed by a trisagion at the cenotaph and wreath laying at Saint Nicholas Cemetery, reminding us of his lasting impact and contributions.
