Even with promises made, the agricultural community is still frustrated. They are now heading to the House of Cyprus, after stopping at the Presidential Palace to deliver their memo. Meanwhile, Nicosia’s roads are very congested because of the work stoppage and the farmers’ protests.
The Cypriot farmers, along with their peers across Europe, are protesting against the new European agricultural policy. They started their tractors early and took to the main streets of the capital. Organizers say around 100 tractors are part of this protest, and agricultural groups have shared gathering points in all provinces.
The Cypriot farmers have arrived at the House of Cyprus and delivered their memo. Panagiotis Pourgouridis, Head of the European Commission Delegation, spoke and said that the European Union supports the farmers.
The phrase ‘I fear what will be done for me without me…’ shows the farmers’ worries about promises made by those in charge.
