One of the slogans shared by students online said, ‘we learn from a young age.’ But what they are really learning is unclear. Their actions show a lack of historical knowledge and education. Many believe that half-knowledge can be worse than ignorance.
It’s especially serious that high school students in Larnaca posted Nazi messages, along with photos of themselves hiding their faces. These posts seem to encourage other students, sparking strong anger in both the educational community and society.

These actions glorify symbols and practices from a regime linked to the death and destruction of millions. This dark period in history is taught to help us avoid repeating it, not to be idealized or used for ‘provocation.’
Students making Nazi salutes and filling schools with fascist symbols, as reported by parents and educators, must face consequences. We also need better education and historical awareness so young people realize these acts are not jokes or ‘bravado.’ Nazism is not a game or a way to impress others.
The incident has upset many parents, who are calling for immediate action from the Ministry of Education. Recently, high school students in Larnaca created a social media account where they posted photos of Nazi salutes, along with slogans promoting hate ideologies.
The organized parents of Larnaca are aware of this situation. The president of the Parents’ Federation, Mr. Kostas Kostas, mentioned they have received serious complaints about a specific social media account called ‘Verginazi.’
The creation of this account named ‘Verginazi‘ has led to strong reactions and concern.
Mr. Kostas stressed that parents find such behavior shocking and urged the Ministry of Education to take action right away. ‘We condemn anything related to the Nazi past, especially symbols linked to the murder of millions. Hate ideologies have no place in schools,’ he said firmly.
