In Cyprus, there seems to be a drop in the number of irregular migrants, based on data from 2025.
During 2025, 11,500 foreign nationals living illegally in the Republic of Cyprus were sent back home through organized efforts by the Foreigners and Immigration Service. Meanwhile, migrant arrivals reached 2,400.
When we compare these two numbers, it’s clear that more people left than arrived. This shows a net decrease in the total number of irregular migrants in the country this year. A big reason for this change seems to be the increased return operations and better teamwork between the Cyprus Police and FRONTEX as part of joint European actions.
At the same time, officials stress that even with fewer numbers, migration is still a complex issue that needs ongoing management at both national and European levels.
Still, 2025 shows more repatriation of foreigners and fewer new arrivals, indicating a more controlled situation compared to past years.
