Police stepped up their activity on Christmas night. They conducted over 820 checks across the country, leading to 102 traffic violation reports. The Cyprus Police stated that 33 of these violations were for driving under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, six drivers tested positive in preliminary drug tests.
During these operations, six vehicles were seized for traffic offense investigations. Four people were arrested for vehicle theft, possession of knives, and outstanding fines.
The Police stress that these actions include targeted checks, more patrols, and interventions in high-crime areas. This is all part of a larger plan to boost security with a stronger presence and quick responses in every district.
