A low-pressure system is moving in, bringing stronger winds tonight, especially in the west and north. The weather will get worse starting Tuesday evening.
Today, expect a mix of partly and mostly cloudy skies, with a chance of some showers. In the higher mountains, there might be snow or sleet. Winds will start from the northwest to northeast at 3–4 Beaufort, then shift to southwest to northwest, getting stronger to 4–5 Beaufort, and even 5 Beaufort in the west and north. The sea will be a bit rough, mainly in the west and north. Temperatures will be around 15 degrees inland, 16 on the coast, and 4 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight, it will be mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the west. Hail could fall during thunderstorms, and snow or sleet is expected in the mountains. Winds will pick up more, blowing northwest at 4–5 Beaufort and reaching 5–6 Beaufort on windward coasts. Temperatures will drop to 6 degrees inland, 9 on the coast, and near zero in the higher mountains, where frost is likely.
On Monday, expect cloudy skies with isolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the west. Snow or sleet will also happen in the mountains. The weather should improve by noon but it will still be windy.
On Tuesday, it will stay mostly cloudy with some isolated showers. A new wave of bad weather is expected in the evening with local rain, thunderstorms, and hail. On Wednesday, New Year’s Eve, we’re looking at cloudy weather with rain, thunderstorms, and very strong winds.
The temperature will stay about the same until Tuesday, remaining slightly below normal for this time of year. A slight rise is expected on Wednesday.
