About 9 kilometers north of Paphos, near the village of Tala, lies the Museum of St. Neophytos Monastery, an important religious and historical site in Cyprus that combines spirituality, art, and nature.
⛪ History of the Monastery
The St. Neophytos Monastery was founded around 1200 AD by the Cypriot hermit and writer Saint Neophytos the Recluse, in what was then a remote area atop a picturesque valley.
Saint Neophytos himself carved the Engleistra cave into the mountain, a place for asceticism and prayer that today stands as one of the most important monuments of Byzantine art in Cyprus.
