The third traffic lane at the Agios Dometios crossing is now open, along with a new checkpoint. This will help vehicles move more smoothly. The lane opened after the last phase of work in the Green Line, which finished on February 16.
Deputy Mayor of Agios Dometios, Konstantinos Yiangou, told Phileleftheros that the new checkpoint will make daily commutes easier. The police will manage all three lanes to keep traffic flowing when needed.
The project was funded by the European Union and carried out by the United Nations Development Programme in Cyprus.
The upgrade adds another traffic lane in each direction and a new pedestrian walkway. This makes it safer and more comfortable for both drivers and pedestrians.
