AKEL wants the immediate firing of Charalambos Charalambous, the Director of the Office of the President. They also want to end the First Lady’s Fund.
During a press conference, party General Secretary Stefanos Stefanou said a video on social media raises big political, ethical, and institutional questions. He believes it puts President Christodoulides in a tough spot.
“This issue is personal, ethical, and very political. It involves institutional problems and corruption,” Mr. Stefanou said. AKEL demands Mr. Charalambous’ removal as a basic step for political responsibility and wants donors revealed before ending the First Lady’s Fund.
