Akylas Mitilinaeos, or simply Akylas, will represent Greece at this year’s Eurovision with his song “Ferto”. The moment he won the Greek final was full of emotion. The hosts brought his mother on stage, and the young singer couldn’t hold back tears as he hugged her.
When his mother heard “Ferto” again, she also got emotional. The stage was filled with feelings and truth. “Ferto” tells the story of a child who dreamed big, faced challenges, but never lost hope. In a recent interview about the song for Eurovision in May in Vienna, he said, “I wanted it to be uplifting, something I could live and dance to. At the same time, it has meaning. It talks about overconsumption and greed.”
The song is a tribute to his parents, who did everything to raise him right. “I grew up in a home with financial struggles. This piece is for parents who try their best.”
