Vana Alves Wants to “Put Down Roots,” but…
In recent hours, a segment of the local media has focused on the future of Vana Alves. The trigger was the decision of Aris’s new coach, Artem Rachkov, to hand the gloves of permanence in goal to Englishman Fotheringham, in contrast to Spilefski’s approach.
This move comes as a surprise from the Belarusian coach. If the situation does not change throughout the season, the chances of offering a new contract to the Brazilian keeper will diminish. This is not due to age (he is 34.5 years old), but rather because of his high salary demands.
Two and a half years ago, when he extended his contract (having arrived in Limassol in the summer of 2021), he signed for another three years with a total compensation package around 1 million euros.
From the environment of the experienced goalkeeper, we learn that he is not opposed to “putting down roots” on the island. At the same time, he is not ready to significantly lower his demands, even though he has lost his starting position at Aris.
If a team does not emerge offering him a contract with a monthly salary of 30-35 thousand euros, we cannot know at this moment.
