After a decision by the Political Bureau of the Democratic Rally, Andreas Michailidis will replace Nikos Syka on the party’s ballot for the upcoming parliamentary elections. He was the first runner-up in the internal elections in Limassol.
His selection got unanimous approval and will likely be officially confirmed by the Executive Council. This decision came after a secret vote, where most members chose to remove Mr. Syka from the ballot. Out of 85 voters, only 9 wanted him to stay, while 75 voted for his removal, and one ballot was invalid.
The meeting took place after the Supreme Court lifted the deputy’s immunity following an assault complaint that was later withdrawn. The former deputy is the first runner-up based on the recent internal elections in Limassol.
