Mr. Andreas Paschalidis, a former Supreme Court Judge and President of the Independent Authority for Claims and Complaints Against the Police, has been chosen by the Attorney General to look into any possible criminal activity related to the controversial video.
The Attorney General of the Republic officially announced the appointment of Mr. Andreas Paschalidis as an Independent Criminal Investigator. He will help the Police investigate a video posted on social media platform ‘X’ by the account “Emily Thompson” on 08/01/2026. The investigation will explore everything about the video, including its content, authenticity, origin, circumstances, and reasons for its creation and sharing, along with any other issues that come up during the inquiry. The investigation is expected to wrap up as soon as possible and within three months.

Using the powers given by Article 4(2) of the Criminal Procedure Law (Cap. 155), the Attorney General of the Republic has decided today to appoint Mr. Andreas Paschalidis, a former Supreme Court Judge and President of the Independent Authority for Claims and Complaints Against the Police, as an Independent Criminal Investigator. He will work with the Police to look into any possible criminal offense related to the video posted on social media platform ‘X’ by account “Emily Thompson” on 08/01/2026 (“the Video”).
According to Mr. Paschalidis’s appointment terms, the investigation will cover all aspects related to this Video, including its content, authenticity, origin, circumstances, and reasons for its production and publication, along with any other matters that arise during this investigation. The inquiry should be finished as soon as possible and within three (3) months.
