Coach Ketsbaia is still with Anorthosis. After meetings yesterday, the focus is on unity. The goal is to win against Ethnikos and lift the mood at “Antonis Papadopoulos”.
There are two main reasons why the Georgian-Cypriot coach is still in charge:
First, his name is Timur Ketsbaia. He is one of the most iconic figures in Anorthosis Famagusta’s history.
Second, when asked about leaving, he made it clear that he won’t forget his contract until 2028.
This was one of the conditions for his return four months ago when he signed a long-term deal.
There’s also a third reason, though we’re not sure how much it affects management’s choices. Fans really admire Ketsbaia, as seen on social media, despite his tough time in this third term at Anorthosis.
To be honest, another big reason for the team’s current struggles is poor player choices made before Timur took over. These decisions were made by sports director Apostolos Makridis.
