Apollon is close to making its first transfer as the winter window approaches.
The team wants to boost its midfield. After Marcelino left, they need a player who can add balance and strength in defense. Right now, Apollon is in talks with 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder Gustavo Assunção.
They’ve already reached a verbal agreement with him. The last step is for him to be released from AVS. Once that happens, he can travel to Cyprus for medical exams and sign his contract.
Assunção started his football career in Porto’s youth teams. He then moved through the academies of Atlético Madrid and São Paulo, reaching Atlético’s U19 team. He has played professionally for Famalicão, Galatasaray, and AVS, gaining great experience in competitive leagues.
