For his significant work and contribution to his occupied village, Kontemenos, former community leader Athos Mirachis was honored. He passed away suddenly at the age of 70. The special plaque was received on behalf of the family by his daughter, Alexia Mirachis.
It should be remembered that the former community leader and kiosk owner at a key location in Nicosia died last April suddenly from heart failure. Notably, 50 days before his death, he lost his beloved brother, and he had recently undergone medical tests that showed no issues.
Athos Mirachis served Nicosia for decades with his kiosk on Makarios Avenue being a landmark for residents and passersby. The kiosk continues to operate today by his wife, Koula, who keeps his memory alive. He was particularly loved for his kindness, warm smile, and calm demeanor, with friends and neighbors always remembering him as ready with a kind word and warmth, even in the toughest times.
