Authorities found a large amount of fake condoms and lubricants from a popular brand in Famagusta. This was part of checks for Intellectual Property Rights violations.
The inspections happened on January 23, 2026, after a complaint to the Medical Equipment Authority. A team from the Customs Department and the Authority carried out an operation at a store and warehouse. They seized 5,040 condoms and 418 lubricants of the same brand.
For the investigation, details and photos were sent to the company’s legal team to see if the products violated brand rights.
In another inspection on January 30, 2026, at the same warehouse, Customs found an extra 19,674 condoms of that brand. The company owner admitted they were fake and agreed to destroy them.
The Larnaca Customs is still investigating.
