There is concern about the low blood and blood product supplies in Cyprus. The Ministry of Health warns that availability is struggling during a time of high demand.

A recent announcement says that fewer blood donors, along with the ongoing need for transfusions and blood products—like red blood cells, plasma, and platelets—for treatments, surgeries, and emergencies, is stressing the system.

The Ministry urges healthy citizens who meet the criteria to visit blood donation centers right away to help increase supplies.

“Donating blood is a lifesaving act and is crucial to meet the growing needs of patients,” it states.
