An improvised explosive device was detonated in the early hours of this morning at a well-known reception and entertainment venue in the Lakatamia area, shattering the glass facade of the premises.
According to police, the explosion occurred at approximately 3:20 a.m. Officers, including members of the Bomb Disposal Unit, arrived at the scene and immediately began their examination.
Preliminary findings confirmed the blast was caused by a bomb placed at the entrance of the building. The area has been cordoned off and inspections are expected to continue during daylight hours today.
The case is being investigated by the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (TAE). No injuries were reported. The incident adds to a string of explosions targeting commercial premises in the capital in recent weeks.
