ByteDance has launched a new AI voice control tool called Doubao. It will first be available on ZTE’s Nubia M153 smartphone. This AI tool lets users give voice commands for tasks like finding content or booking tickets. It aims to expand to other brands later.
This assistant joins a market already filled with Huawei and Xiaomi products. Meanwhile, Apple hasn’t yet launched its Apple Intelligence ecosystem in China. The Nubia M153 is up for pre-order at 3,499 yuan, which has sparked interest in ZTE and boosted its stock by 10%, along with new 5G deals in Vietnam.
ByteDance says it won’t make its own phones. Instead, it’s working with several OEMs to spread the assistant more widely. The company, known for TikTok and Douyin, already has a strong presence in China’s AI market. The Doubao chatbot has 159 million active monthly users, far ahead of rivals Tencent Yuanbao and DeepSeek.
