A serious traffic accident happened early Saturday morning on the Limassol–Nicosia highway near Mosfiloti. A vehicle collision caused a fire and injured two people, leading to police involvement.
According to the police, around 02:20, a 31-year-old driver lost control of his car for reasons still being looked into. He crashed into the highway barriers on both sides several times.
The vehicle came to a stop in the right lane. The driver got out, turned on the hazard lights, and moved to the median between the lanes.
Shortly after, a car in the right lane, driven by a 20-year-old with another 20-year-old as a passenger, hit the parked vehicle of the 31-year-old.
The strong impact caused a fire in the young men’s car, which was soon engulfed in flames and completely destroyed.
The two 20-year-olds suffered minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital for first aid.
The police reported that breathalyzer tests on both drivers showed negative results.
