The events that bring together people of all ages for Carnival and Clean Monday won’t happen as planned, changing the festive schedule.
In a joint announcement from the Municipality of Lakatamia, the Municipality of Latsia – Geri, and the Municipality of Southern Nicosia – Idalion, it was shared that all events for Carnival and Clean Monday 2026, set for February 22 and 23, are canceled.
This decision comes due to forecasts of unstable weather, putting the safety of residents and visitors first. As a result, the carnival at E’ Primary School of Lakatamia, the event at Linear Park Lakatamia, the gathering at Lurka Forest in Latsia – Geri, and the celebration in the “Paradisia” area in Southern Nicosia – Idalion will not take place.
The three municipalities appreciate the public’s understanding and wish everyone a good Lent season, hoping that these events can return later when the weather is better.
