Yesterday, Saturday, December 13, the Decoration of the Christmas Tree for the Missing Persons happened at the old Town Hall of Nicosia. This touching event honored Cyprus’s missing persons and aimed to keep our historical memory alive.
The Pancyprian Organization of Relatives of Undeclared Prisoners and Missing Persons organized the event, along with the Volunteer Hikers Group of Radiomarathon, under the support of Nicosia Mayor Mr. Charalambos Prontzos.
Students from our school joined in, answering the call from the Volunteering Committee. They showed that the younger generation remembers. With respect and emotion, they decorated the Christmas tree, sending a strong message of memory, solidarity, and hope.
The event reminded us that Christmas is not just about joy and celebration. It’s also a time for reflection, humanity, and respect for those still missing. The tree for the missing symbolizes memory, dignity, and the ongoing search for truth.
