President Nikos Christodoulides said after the student parade that Nicosia already has a “clear plan” for everything relating to the British Bases.
He stressed that Turkish Cypriots and Turkey can only have a say once they return to and recognise the Republic of Cyprus, signalling that negotiations will not reopen under pressure.
The President noted that London and the National Council were briefed before the position was made public, while details will stay confidential so each step can unfold methodically.
He added that managing the current security crisis is the immediate priority, yet preliminary contacts have taken place and the Government will proceed step by step along a defined roadmap.
Christodoulides reiterated that security measures remain heightened after the incident inside the Bases and thanked Greece, France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands for reinforcing Cyprus’ deterrent capabilities.
