Before the match against Belarus, our National Men’s Team coach Apostolos Mantzios and Giannis Satsias held a press conference on Wednesday morning (25/03).
Mr. Mantzios highlighted how important the game against Belarus is, along with the one next Monday (30/03) against Moldova. He noted that even though these are friendlies, they are very helpful.
“In these two games, we can test things and players. Since I arrived, we’ve faced a tough situation with injuries, but these absences let us experiment and learn for the future,” Mr. Mantzios said at the start, adding:
“The upcoming Nations League tournament is more manageable, but that doesn’t change anything. We aim to keep improving and have high hopes for our team.”
Mr. Mantzios also talked about the first-time call-ups of Angelos Neophytou, Panagiotis Andreou, and Stavros Georgiou:
“We are watching all players closely. Those who were called up earned it by performing well in their league. They belong with the team. We expect them to bring their club performance to the National Team.”
The coach also emphasized how important it is for fans to support the team by coming to the stadium.
“Fans should know we won’t treat these friendlies lightly; we will aim for two wins.”
The players were represented at the press conference by Giannis Satsias.
“Every player wants to wear the National Emblem. We have a great atmosphere in the locker room; everyone wants to be part of the team. We need to take these friendlies seriously and aim for two wins. The renewal of our coach’s contract motivates us to strive for the best.”
