The week starts with clear skies but chilly temperatures, just before the end of 2025. For the second time this year, we saw the first snowflakes in Troodos yesterday, bringing a winter vibe. From Tuesday, expect more unstable weather with increased clouds, rain, and some thunderstorms, especially in the Troodos area.
Today, the weather will be partly cloudy at first, with possible isolated showers and snowfall in the higher mountains. However, it will soon turn mostly clear. Winds will come from the northwest, blowing moderately to strongly at 4 to 5 Beaufort and initially very strong at 5 to 6 Beaufort in some areas. The sea will be slightly rough to rough along the south and east coasts and rough to wavy in the west and north. The temperature will rise to about 14 degrees inland, around 16 on the coasts, and 6 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight, expect mostly clear skies. Winds will mainly blow from northwest to northeast, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough and locally rough in the west and north. The temperature will drop to 4 degrees inland, around 8 on the south and east coasts, about 9 on the west and north coasts, and zero in the higher mountains. Frost is likely to form in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas.
The temperature will rise slightly by Wednesday, getting closer to average for this time of year, while a slight drop is expected on New Year’s Day.
