The cultural activities kick off early in the afternoon. At 6:30 PM, the Municipal Theater of Agios Athanasios hosts an afternoon tea. The Municipality of Amathus teams up with the German Medical Institute for a talk on ‘Prevention, Management, and Resolution of Oncological Cases’. Oncology professor and doctor Nikolas Zamboglou will be the main speaker.
At the same time in Nicosia, the Center for Visual Arts and Research and The English School Nicosia open the photography exhibition ‘From Vision to Legacy’ at the Center for Visual Arts and Research.
At 7 PM, the Municipal Cultural Center ‘Panos Solomonides’ in Limassol will see an event by the Friends of Carnival. They honor Akis Georgiou Taitos and Miltos Papadopoulos, while remembering Louli Katsounotou and Artemakis Zachariou. The program features the satirical dance ‘The Grandmothers’ by Natia Nikolaidou’s Dance Academy, plus a carnival number by Ritsa, Taito, and Miltos. The Mayor of Limassol supports this event.
At 7:30 PM, in Strovolos at the Heroes Hall of the EOKA Liberation Struggle Foundation 1955-59, a lecture is presented by the Foundation and the Academy of Historical Studies. The topic is ‘What About the “Others”? Re-examining the EOKA Struggle through the Eyes of Cyprus’s Religious Groups: Maronites, Latins, and Armenians’.
Also at 7:30 PM, the House of Letters and Arts in Paphos hosts screenings as part of the 48th International Short Film Festival Drama in Cyprus. In Larnaca at the same time, the University of Cyprus and the Municipality of Larnaca hold a lecture on ‘Environment and Quality of Life’ at the Municipal Cultural Center ‘Ammochostos’, part of Zenon Free University.
At 8 PM, Pattihio Theater Limassol presents George Tsiakkas’s comedy ‘Here We Say SOS’. Directed by Marina Vrondi, it features actors Elena Efstathiou, Marios Dimitriou, Marinos Chatzivasileiou, Mara Konstantinou, Vasilis Charalambous, Marina Vrondi, Polyxeni Savva, Angelos Chatzimichail, Stavriana Kadi, and Giorgos Kyriakou.
Meanwhile, award-winning films from the International Short Film Festival Drama are shown in other cities. At 8 PM at Pantheon Cinema in Nicosia and at 8:30 PM at Rialto Theater in Limassol. These screenings are organized by the Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture, Rialto Theater, and Drama Festival with free entry for everyone.
